Blood Sugar ConverterBlood sugar level is measured by determining the number of milligrams of glucose in a decilitre of blood(mg/dl). The normal range is between 70 and 100 mg/dl-the level most people have after fasting overnight. That's about equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar in a gallon of water. If your blood sugar is consistently 126mg/dl or higher after fasting overnight, you have diabetes. If your fasting blood sugar is between 101 and 125mg/dl, you have impaired glucose tolerance, more commonly known as border line diabetes or prediabetes. There are 2 methods to calculate this: by weight, by molecular count. Weights are in grams and molecular counts in moles(a mole is 6.23*10^23 molecules). To convert mmol/l of glucose to mg/dl, multiply by 18. To convert mg/dl of glucose to mmol/l, divided by 18 or multiply by 0.055.
